Performing Arts Spring Concert Series

As the end of our academic year comes near, the Department of Performing Arts will enliven our campus with a variety of performances from May 13th - June 5th. Whether your interests lay in hit Broadway musicals, deeply emotive dance ensembles, the power of a full orchestra, soaring choirs, or inspiring Concert Band, there will be wonderful music for virtually everyone’s taste.

Little Shop of Horrors

May 19-21 - 8pm // May 14, 15, & 21 – 2pm | URBN Center Annex Black Box Theater

A hilarious smash sci-fi musical in which the meek floral assistant Seymour stumbles across a man-eating plant that promises him unending fame and fortune as long as he keeps feeding it. Suddenly Seymour discovers that the plant is from another planet and has designs on ruling the world! $5 Drexel Students, $10 Non-Drexel Students, $15 General Admission. While the show has been selling out, we’ve been able to accommodate a limited number of walk-ins and we assemble a waitlist one hour before curtain.

Drexel Dance Ensemble: Change of Pace

June 2, 3, and 4 at 8pm | Mandell Theater

New works by ten choreographers combine to make an evening of dance excitement. Selected student works will be performed in addition to premiers by Drexel dance faculty KC Chun-Manning, Tania Isaac, and Jennifer Morley. $5 Students, $10 General Admission

University Orchestra: Americana

Friday, June 3, 7:30pm | Main Building Auditorium 

The orchestra celebrates great American composers, Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copeland as they perform Bernstein’s overture to Candide and Copeland’s Rodeo Dance Suite. The program also features the winner of the annual student solo competition, Keziah Sheldon.

University Chorus and Chamber Singers

Sunday, June 5, 3:00pm | Great Court, Main Building 

Come hear the University Chorus and Chamber Singers present amazingly resonant choral music in the Great Court inside Drexel’s Main Building. Repertoire is specifically selected for this tremendous acoustical space. This event is free and open to the public.

Concert Band: Among the Clouds featuring guest composer Brian Balmages

Sunday, June 5, 7:00pm | Mandell Theater

The Concert Band will perform the works of Brian Balmages: Loudon Praises, Arabian Dances, Images of Ireland, Among The Clouds, Nevermore, Reverberations, and Escapades. This concert is part of a project that will produce a CD recording of Balmages’ work. This event is free and open to the public.
